“So Much To Tell You” – Album Reviews

band onstage in small venue with orange lighting, playing song from new album

“So Much To Tell You” by Ax and the Hatchetmen is an exciting, carefree, and comforting album that is nothing short of amazing! Definitely a new staple in my indie rock playlist. The album contains a handful previously released singles such as “Hotel Room” and “Sunscreen”, along with some fresh vibes like “Red Carpet” and “Model Citizen”. “So Much To Tell You” feels like a day at the beach, drawing inspo from older surf rock while simultaneously bringing so much originality.

Lead singer Axel Ellis has such a unique voice, which is complimented so well by the guitar tone and horn section of the band. They are INSANE musicians!! Always so together and crafting incredible guitar riffs and horn features. I’m transported right to where the song is describing every single time; both in lyrics and instrumental. My personal favorites off of the album are “Sunscreen” and “Oasis”. Both have a very light-hearted feel that I always look for in this genre. The album released October 24th of this year with the band going on tour shortly after the release.

I was lucky enough to snag a ticket to their Salt Lake City show at Soundwell, and it was absolutely electric! In my opinion, being in a smaller venue like Soundwell really highlights the raw talent of a band like Ax and the Hatchetmen.
